Helen M. Hubbard

Helen M. Hubbard of Riverhead died May 3 at her home. She was 97. 

The daughter of Rudy and Mary (Condzella) Madzelan, she was born April 4, 1921, in Riverhead and graduated from Riverhead High School in 1938.

Ms. Hubbard worked as a bookkeeper at Hubbard Appliances in Riverhead. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead.

Family members said she enjoyed puzzles, crocheting and gardening.

Predeceased by her husband, Stanley, daughter Helen Mary and great-grandson Joseph Chew, Ms. Hubbard is survived by her children, John (Theresa) of Aquebogue, Alexander (Carol) of Riverhead and Raymond (JoAnne) of Riverhead; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Monday, May 7, from 3 to 7 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church.
