Henry E. Mahoney

Henry E. Mahoney of Riverhead died May 10 at the Oasis Center. He was 90.

The son of Henry and Bridgit Mahoney, he was born March 2, 1928, in Manhattan.

Mr. Mahoney served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948. He was a sergeant with the NYPD.

Mr. Mahoney was a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

Family members said he enjoyed golf and ballroom dancing.

Predeceased by his wife, Eileen, in 2009, Mr. Mahoney is survived by his children, Bryan, of Farmingdale, Patrick, of Massachusetts and Kathleen Kocan of Riverhead and three grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Monday, May 14, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. Cremation will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to NYPD Sergeant Benevolent Association or the Guide Dogs for the Blind.
