Dorothy T. Austin

Dorothy T. Austin of Riverhead died May 28 at Mount Sinai Hospital. She was 61. 

The daughter of Louis and Emma (Clark) Austin, she was born Aug. 18, 1956, in Virginia and attended Greenport High School.

Ms. Austin worked as a certified nursing assistant at Westhampton Care Center.

Family members said she enjoyed going to casinos, having parties and cooking.

Predeceased by her brother John and sister Virginia Allen, Ms. Austin is survived by her son, Willie, of Flanders; her siblings, Helen, of North Carolina, Charles and Eugene, both of Shirley and James, of Riverhead and two grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Saturday, June 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Galilee Church of God in Christ in Riverhead, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Riverhead Cemetery.

Arrangements were in care of McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
