Crash closes down portions of Old Country Road

Update (7 a.m.): Riverhead Police confirmed the road has reopened.

Original story: Portions of Old Country Road between Northville Turnpike and Doctors Path are closed in both directions due to an early morning car crash, downing wires across the roadway.

Riverhead Police said a car traveling east hit the pole across the street from McDonalds around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported, police said.

The road as been closed since and it is unclear when the road would reopen, police said.

PSEG is on scene making repairs. The Police Department asks that motorists take alternate routes until roadway is open.
