Helen G. Tyska

Helen G. Tyska died Sept. 4 at her home in Calverton. She was 95.

Born in Baiting Hollow Feb. 16, 1923, to Henry and Tessie (Sujeski) Goozda, she graduated from Riverhead High School in 1941.

She was a homemaker, and family members said she loved gardening, cooking, puzzles and bingo.

Predeceased by her husband, Benny in 2003 and her sister Eleanor Czerniawski; she is survived by her children, Carol Wowak, Dennis and Gregory Tyska; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead, where a memorial service will take place. Burial will follow at St. Isidore R.C. cemetery.
