Herbert Robinson Hulse

Herbert Robinson Hulse of Calverton died Jan. 2 at The Forum at Lincoln Heights in San Antonio, Texas. He was 95.

He was born July 7, 1916, in Calverton to Harry E. and Bessie (Robinson) Hulse. He graduated from Riverhead High School, Class of 1937, and married Vivian Irene Mann on Oct. 15, 1938, in Sag Harbor. He worked on his family farm his entire life.

Mr. Hulse enjoyed being involved with the modified racing group in the Northeast, whether in the pits working on the family race car or watching from the stands at any track in the region. He also enjoyed being an active member of Baiting Hollow Congregational Church, helping out in the thrift shop or doing yard cleanup.

Predeceased by his wife in May 1999, his son Herbert Jr. in March 1998 and his sister, Ethel, in 1932, Mr. Hulse is survived by his son Robert (Helga); four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours are set for Wednesday, Jan. 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead, where a service will take place, Thursday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Baiting Hollow Congregational Church cemetery.
