Starr Patricia Martinsen Ryder

Starr Patricia Martinsen Ryder, a lifelong Riverhead resident, died Aug. 15 at Peconic Bay Medical Center after suffering cardiac arrest. She was 68.

Born March 24, 1944, she was raised by Edith and William Edwards and graduated from Riverhead High School in 1961.

She was married to W. Carey Wilson from 1964 to 1985, then married Frederic Ryder on April 15, 1988. She worked as a dental assistant until her retirement.

Ms. Ryder was a charter member of Peconic Lodge Sons of Norway. She loved her grandchildren, crafts, painting and flowers.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Maureen Brown, Timothy Wilson and Deborah Wilson, all of Riverhead; her grandchildren, Logan and Cassidy Brown; her sister, Sandra Jonassen of New Jersey; her brother, John Banker of Brooklyn; and her cousins, Marjorie Edwards of Riverhead and George Edwards of Westhampton.

The family received visitors Aug. 17 and 18 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.
