A former potato farm on Sound Avenue has been proposed as the site of Long Island’s first “farm to pint” brewery, with most ingredients used in the beer-making process to be grown on site.

The project, which has been dubbed Jamesport Farm Brewery and calls for the creation of a brewery and tasting room in an existing 3,200-square-foot barn, is located on 43 acres on the southern side of Sound Avenue, between Manor and Herricks lanes in Jamesport.

Miamogue Point and South Jamesport Beach are both located south of Peconic Bay Boulevard. The two beaches are featured in this week’s edition of northforker’s “One Minute on the North Fork” series.

Jamesport, the tiny North Fork hamlet between Aquebogue and Laurel, features several vineyards, a quaint downtown and a growing dining scene. And its southern beaches are truly breathtaking.

Greenport’s ice rink at Mitchell Park has become a North Fork staple during the winter.

“I think it’s a great thing that we have this here in Greenport,” said Mattituck resident Beth Winter.

Winter said her daughter Victoria began taking lessons at the rink two years ago and now comes back every year. READ

Ina Pollifrone-Visich discovered hot yoga while researching treatments for fibromyalgia, a chronic disorder she was diagnosed with two and a half years ago. The 27-year-old native of Belarus found that stretching under steamy conditions alleviated her symptoms, including headaches and fatigue.
