Maritime Day School was founded in 2008 by two local women who sought to provide a high-quality pre-school program and to make a difference in children’s lives. It offers “a unique education experience” for children ages two, three and four, according to its new owner, Dawn L. Ward.

“It is for families seeking a new direction in their child’s preschool years,” she said. “Notwithstanding our students’ tender ages, we put forth a unique theme-based curriculum which provides a solid foundation for learning. We also seek to provide cutting edge learning tools such as the interactive Smart Board which is being installed in our 4-year-old class, and new educational materials purchased for the 2- and 3-year-old classes.”

Maritime Day School offers a seven week summer program that is both educational and fun. “We believe summer camp should be intriguing and fun, while accomplishing our core goal, education,” said Ms. Ward. The program runs Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Each weekly theme incorporates a daily art activity, math, language, social studies, singing, literature and science, and all involve a lot of fun and exploration. The children also have the opportunity to get wet and be silly. The first week the classes “traveled” to Egypt to see the great pyramids and learn about Egyptian hieroglyphs. This summer’s lineup includes “Walk like an Egyptian;” “Hang Ten” Beach; “Wizards;” “There’s A Snake In My Boot;” “Wild West;”  “Under the Big Top Circus,” “Knights and Princesses,” and “Do You Have What It Takes?” Survivor.

“Our priority is to provide children with a fun and rewarding summer experience, supervised by educated and seasoned teachers,” said Ms. Ward. “In addition to their extensive experience, all teachers and staff are certified in CPR and First Aid.”

Summer Camp provides children who have never experienced a preschool setting with an opportunity for routine and peer interaction. For children who have previously attended preschool, it provides consistency and maintenance, which can contribute to their success in the following school year. “We can ensure you that your child will be learning while creating summer memories,” said Ms. Ward.

For September enrollment, Maritime offers two daily sessions: 9 a.m. to noon, and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Founded in 1990, Kaiser Maintenance has grown into a full-service landscape management company, offering weekly lawn and garden maintenance, lawn fertilization and integrated pest-management plant health care programs, including diagnosis and treatment of lawns, trees and shrubs.

The company offers complete tree care, including everything from pruning to removal. Customers can also benefit from services such as design, installation and renovation of landscapes, ponds and water gardens.

“Through continuing education, our team has earned a certificate in environmental horticulture, and we have also joined with Paul Smith’s College to offer a 10-week internship program to their landscape management students,” said owner Lawrence Kaiser.

The staff includes certified Cambridge paver installers, a state certified arborist, and Department of Environmental Conservation-authorized pesticide applicators and technicians.

Mr. Kaiser, certified as an arborist and pesticide applicator, serves as a mentor to other members of the team. He has been the driving force in the creative side to Kaiser Maintenance, taking on large scale and unique projects. The work includes all project phases, from conception to maintenance. He says one of the keys to the team’s success is its insightful, creative planning and preparedness and care taken in the implementation phase.

Ms. Feinberg holds a certificate in environmental horticulture, and although her main focus is overseeing daily administration, her background and field experience allow her to address any client’s questions.

Whether it’s landscape management programs or construction projects, the team is guided by the customer’s particular wishes, needs and interests, as well as the existing vegetation, topography, house architecture and the landscape’s character. The aim is to develop a harmonious concept.

From small, idyllic gardens to majestic grounds, Kaiser’s goal is to make the client’s plans come to life and dreams come true.

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Judy Emanuele provides a comprehensive range of services to clients of all ages, along with staff members Tara Pedone, a licensed esthetician and certified laser technician, and Charlene Bloss, a licensed esthetician. While the clientele is mostly female, many men also seek to rejuvenate their appearance or resolve medical issues.

Surgical services include abdominoplasty (tummy tuck); blepharoplasty, which improves the appearance of upper and/or lower eyelids and gives a rejuvenated appearance to the surrounding eye area; breast augmentation and reduction; liposuction; reconstruction following extreme weight loss and more.

Laser services include microlaser peel, an innovation in skin resurfacing; photorejuvenation, which uses intense pulsed light to treat some skin conditions and soften wrinkles; SkinTyte™, a new noninvasive laser skin tightening procedure; laser treatment of veins and redness; and laser hair removal.

Facial services include HydraFacial treatments, which combine cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection, resulting in clearer skin with no discomfort or downtime; microdermabrasion, a skin-freshening technique that helps repair aging and sun-damaged areas; Botox; and dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Radiesse, ArteFill and Sculptra.

According to office manager Alison Manuel, the injectable fillers are very popular with women from their 40s to their 60s. Cost varies with the area covered and amount of product required.

A full range of waxing services is available as well.

“Our goal is to help the individual achieve her or his goal,” said Ms. Manuel. Often, a person will come in with a particular procedure in mind, and will benefit instead from an entirely different esthetic approach to produce the desired result. “We want everyone to feel comfortable and confident with their decision to have a particular cosmetic treatment,” she said.

Makeup services and application lessons are offered as well, and cosmetic clients receive free consultations. East End Plastic Surgery & Laser Center sells Jane Iredale mineral makeup and a variety of skin care products.
