A Bishop McGann-Mercy High School club donated $9,000 to Maureen’s Haven, a Riverhead-based outreach center for homeless people. Brooke Kappenberg arrived at Bishop McGann-Mercy High School early Monday morning, well before the opening practice of the 2016 season scheduled for 5 p.m. The Mercy sophomore was set to begin her first season playing on the Monarchs’ varsity tennis team, and she was so eager to begin, she stopped by JV practice first.
