Hi, friends and neighbors. I hope everyone enjoyed the last weekend of July. It’s crazy how fast this month flew. I’m especially sad because this means my baby girl is leaving in less than a month to embark on her college career. I’m going to miss her so much. Don’t get me wrong, I’m over the moon with pride at her accomplishments and her drive for success but I’m still going to have some serious empty nest syndrome going on. (more…)

Riverhead resident Edward Raffel turned 70 years old July 4. A party was held in his honor in the North Fork Tasting Room at The Lobster Roll Northside. Fifty-nine family members and friends were in attendance. The party — organized by Ed’s lovely wife, Joanne, and his friend Dr. Richard Rubenstein — included a buffet prepared by owner Fred Terry, who graduated with Ed in 1962. (more…)

Jasmine says Lila is loving every moment with her new baby sister. Congratulations!  (more…)

I hope all’s well with everyone as we enjoy this rather cool summer. I love it!

Baiting Hollow Congregational Church’s annual chicken barbecue will take place Saturday, Aug. 2. If you’ve never gone, you should. Chicken with all the trimmings will make you content. Takeout will be available. The rain date is Aug. 3 but hopefully that won’t be needed. Enjoy!  (more…)

What a whirlwind weekend we had. My daughter graduated from Riverhead High School on Saturday and we held a party for her that evening. Thanks to everyone who helped out, especially my brothers, Frank, Danny and Mike, and my sister-in-law Kim. Thanks also to those who brought a dish and everyone who attended, and thanks to God for the perfect weather. Congratulations to the Class of 2014. Best wishes for a prosperous future!  (more…)
