Five people were arrested on various charges during beefed up patrols and checkpoints over the holiday weekend in town, Riverhead police said.
The district attorney’s office coordinated the efforts, which were helped along by state police, the Suffolk County Police Department and Southold and Shelter Island town police officers.

An unlicensed Southampton man was arrested Saturday in Flanders and charged with drunk driving, Southampton Town police said.
Juan Fajardo, 35, was pulled over after police observed him driving in the center turning lane on Flanders Road shortly before 9 p.m., officials said.
Mr. Fajardo was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to take a Breathalyzer test and other traffic infractions, police said.
He was transported to police headquarters and held for arraignment, officials said.

A Ridge woman was arrested on drunken driving charges Thursday after she was caught driving erratically in Riverhead with her 2-month-old child in the car, according to a police press release.
Riverhead police said they received a report at around 2:30 p.m. of a woman driving erratically with an infant in the car at around 2:30 p.m.
Police later located Megan Finne, 20, in a vehicle matching the description in the report, officials said.
She was arrested after police found her to be intoxicated and transported to headquarters for processing, officials said.
Ms. Finne was charged with DWI Leandra’s Law and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, police said.
