The Shoreham-Wading River Board of Education is scheduled to appoint a new school district superintendent at Tuesday’s meeting.
Gerard Poole, who currently works as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction for the Freeport School District, will replace interim superintendent Neil Lederer on July 1.
The Shoreham-Wading River school board has appointed an interim superintendent to replace Steven Cohen, who in February announced plans to retire this summer.
The turf field at Shoreham-Wading River High School won’t be finished until February.

The Shoreham Wading-River Board of Education elected John Zukowski and Robert Rose as its new president and vice president, respectively, at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Mr. Zukowski, an attorney who was first elected in 2011, said he did not specifically seek the position. (more…)

After spending several months wondering whether they’d have a job next year, several Shoreham-Wading River teachers assistants got their answer Tuesday night: No one is getting fired.
The district’s school board rejected a recommendation to eliminate five teachers’ assistant positions for the 2014-15 school year at its regular meeting, saying that while they technically aren’t necessary to run the special ed program, canning employees would mean less support for teachers — diminishing a quality of programming the district holds itself to.
