Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! There’s still time to pick up last minute plants for Mom. Peconic Bay Medical Center and Greenport PTA are running their annual plant sales through the weekend.

Riverhead School district is hosting the Art In Action Show tonight, featuring artwork from every student in grades K-12. An amazing effort that is sure to be a great event.

Want to hear some great music and support a great cause? Bishop Mc-Gann Mercy is hosting “Battle of the Bands for Ronald McDonald House.” Mattituck and McGann Mercy are just some of the local high schools participating.

Get up and go to the May Mile on Saturday morning! You can run the 5K or walk around the beautiful grounds at Peconic Landing. Stick around for the party afterwards.

The North Fork Education Initiative is hosting GROW: a fundraiser for the new Peconic Community School. A great event for children and families. Haven’t heard of the North Fork Education Initative? Read more about them here.

Cinco de Mayo is this weekend and there are some great events happening. Temps are warming up, and we should have nice weather for most of the weekend. Get outside and do something fun.

• Martha Clara is hosting a Santana tribute band and a vineyard walk in recognition of Cinco de Mayo. There are also a bunch of local restaurants having Cinco de Mayo drink and dinner specials. Pick up a copy of the Suffolk Times, Riverhead News-Review or Shelter Island Reporter to view specials in your area.

• There’s a bike rodeo happening Saturday for Riverhead area kids at Stotzky Park. Make sure you wear your helmets.

• Spring has sprung at Hallockville, one of my favorite North Fork places. Learn about spring on the farm. A fun event for the whole family.

• Have fun while supporting the local environment at Greenport Harbor Brewing Company’s “Hops for Habitat” art exhibit opening.

Have you ever wanted to be a Colonial Soldier for a day? Participate in a reenactment!

Celebrate Earth Day. Cleanups are happening in Riverhead, New Suffolk and Orient. Get out there and help the environment.

Spring = baseball, and some of our local Little Leagues are celebrating their season openers this weekend. Check out the events happening in Flanders and Mattituck (And stay tuned for more information about Riverhead’s Little League opener next week, with some VERY special guests).

Martha Clara is hosting a fundraiser, Johanna’s Hope for a Cure to raise awareness of cavernous angiomas. Johanna is an amazing girl and you can follow her progress on her Facebook page.
