Got cabin fever? Then head on over to see Riverhead Faculty and Community Theater’s encore presentation of “Godspell” Saturday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 8, at 2:30 p.m. at North Shore United Methodist Church in Wading River. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors ages 65 and over. All proceeds will go toward a soup kitchen and thrift shop that’s in the works at the church. Happy New Year, friends and neighbors. Here we are in the beginning of 2015. When I left you last year I was just returning from picking up my daughter at college and now I’m preparing to bring her back again. Is it just me or is each year going by quicker and quicker? One minute my kids are babies and the next? One son turned 22 on Jan. 18, my other son will be 20 next month and my daughter is in her second semester of college. Where did the time go?  (more…)

Happy New Year! Hope this year is a great one for all of us.

Karen Glover, Gwen Mack, Harriet McDonald and Ann Cummings of New Vision Pioneers, Aquebogue Life Member Club delivered nonperishable food along with supermarket gift cards to St. Isidore’s food pantry in Riverhead. Ditty bags were also distributed to the clients at Peconic Retreat in Cutchogue. ALMC members dedicate themselves to several projects that benefit our community.  (more…)

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. My family had a great time this Christmas; the little ones entertained us quite nicely. Children have an uncanny ability of making everything more cheerful. I guess seeing things through their eyes brings us back to when we were that age. It’s awesome!  (more…)

North Shore United Methodist Church uses the funds generated at its thrift store for worthy causes. Some have dropped off items for resale and some have shopped the contents of the shop. Whatever your contribution was, the church thanks you for your support and would like you to know that the thrift store is now closed and will open again in February.  (more…)

So, friends and neighbors, this is it — the last column of 2014. What a year it’s been. I’ve seen my baby girl graduate from high school and then go off to college in Oneonta. I’ve seen families in the community suffer loss and devastation. I’ve seen joy and happiness at weddings and celebrations of life with the birth of babies. I’ve seen people who once had it all get knocked down and then rise again. (more…)
