The weather has been pretty nice. Actually, it’s been very good weather for strawberries — not a lot of rain or really hot days. If everything stays on course the strawberries should be around for a while. Cucumbers and zucchini will be arriving soon, with raspberries and blueberries also just around the corner. Linda Winter, of Bagel Lady Cafe, hosts an annual “Get Your Pink On Gala” to support the Long Island 2 Day Walk to Fight Breast Cancer. Her most recent event at Shoreham Country Club was not only tremendous fun, it raised $17,800. You can still help Linda reach her goal for 2015 ($18,000) by making a contribution to the large jar by the cash register at Sassy Salads & Bagels in the Shoreham Plaza on Route 25A or by handing her a check. Good luck in reaching your goal and God bless you, Linda.  (more…)

June is sneaking up very quickly and pretty soon there will be graduations, moving-up ceremonies and fun-in-the-sun festivities — fairs, carnivals, picnics, etc. I love summertime, especially on Long Island. I think most feel the same way. One thing we don’t love, however, is the increase in traffic. I can’t imagine how busy our roads are going to be when school is let out. (more…)
