Riverhead police are working to determine whether there is a connection between a warning shot fired Sunday during an attempted burglary in Calverton and a man who was found shot just hours later.

A River Road resident reported shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday that someone broke into his shed and stole tools, police said. Police documented the incident in a report, officials said.

Riverhead Town Police arrested a Southold man on a grand larceny charge in Riverhead May 6.

Richard Jensen, 39, showed up at a Fairway Avenue house uninvited around 2:05 a.m., talked to the homeowner for about a minute and then stated “I gotta go” and quickly left the house, according to a police report.

An alcohol compliance check of 15 local businesses resulted in one arrest Wednesday, according to a Riverhead Town police press release.

Christopher Keating, 22, of Riverhead was arrested at the Mobil gas station on Route 58 near Pulaski Street while working as a store clerk, the release states.

A man reported he walked out of his home on Newton Avenue in Riverhead around 12:40 p.m. Friday with his peach-faced lovebird on his shoulder and the bird flew away, officials said. Police searched the area but didn’t locate the missing bird, the report stated.
