Update: A woman with multiple prostitution arrests, Jaqulynn Vaughn was held on $25,000 bail at an arraignment in Riverhead Town Justice Court Saturday morning before Judge Allen Smith following an assault Friday.

The 26-year-old did not make bail and was being held at the Suffolk County Jail. She’s due back in court in Monday.  (more…)

Cracks criss-cross the ceiling, dart down the walls and pass through the door and window frames inside the living room of a two-story home on Roanoke Avenue near Pulaski Street.

Three windows facing the side yard are off-kilter, the venetian blinds casting crooked shadows on the couch nearby. The thin floor has buckled by the white door, which rests on busted hinges. Outside, the door is worse, and a wooden walkway has been reduced to a pile of splinters, as if something large took a bite out of it.

That something was a sedan. (more…)

A 9-year-old boy who was hospitalized after his mother allegedly crashed her sedan into a utility pole on Middle Road Thursday while driving drunk and high was nearly thrown from the car because he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, a prosecutor said at the mother’s arraignment Friday morning.

Lynette McDonough of Calverton, 38, pleaded not guilty in Riverhead Town court to charges of felony driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. (more…)

Update 8:30 p.m.: The driver in Thursday afternoon’s single-car crash has been identified as Lynette McDonough, 38, of Calverton, according to a Riverhead Town police press release. She has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol with her 9-year-old son in the car.

Police said she was driving a 2006 Pontiac and heading westbound on Middle Road in Calverton shortly before noon with her son when she crashed into a telephone pole.

Her son was transported to Stony Brook Medical Center by Riverhead Town Ambulance Corps to be treated for his injuries, officials said.

Ms. McDonough was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Town Ambulance Corps to be treated for her injuries and was found to be intoxicated and under the influence of drugs, police said.

She was later transported to Riverhead Police Department for processing after being released from the hospital and charged with DWI drugs and alcohol, a Leandra’s Law violation and endangering the welfare of a child, officials said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the Riverhead Police Department Detective Division at 727-4500 ext. 328.
