Riverhead Town Police Report

A man reported to police last week that he was shot at and robbed of $550 by a group of six men while he was walking near 1086 West Main St. in Riverhead. Police said the victim was injured but declined medical help. The incident occurred about 3 a.m.

* A Riverhead man was arrested twice last week, once on assault charges and another time for allegedly having a crack pipe, authorities said.

Tywan Jones, 30, was nabbed by Riverhead police about 1 a.m. last Wednesday on Wilson Avenue in Riverhead and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, officials said. He was arrested again at the same location about 9 a.m. Monday and charged with third-degree assault and second-degree harassment after police said he got into a fight with a female acquaintance.

* A Riverhead man was arrested last week after he allegedly threatened to sic his pit bull on his neighbor and kill him, town police said. William Evans, 44, was arrested about 7:30 p.m. last Tuesday on Yellowbird Place and charged with second-degree harassment, officials said.

* Laura Barra, 19, of Shirley was arrested at Riverhead Police headquarters about 1 p.m. last Wednesday and charged with second- and third-degree identity theft, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and second-degree forgery. No additional information was available.

* Bryan Tooker, 17, of Calverton was arrested at police headquarters about 10 a.m. last Tuesday for allegedly burglarizing a Calverton home several months ago. Mr. Tooker was charged with fourth- and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
