State Assemblyman Marc Alessi (D-Shoreham) is partnering with Long Island Cares Inc. in hosting a food drive to benefit Horton Avenue residents, some of whose homes were destroyed by last month’s flood.
“It’s times like these that we count on our neighbors the most,” Mr. Alessi said of the Riverhead residents.
Donations of non-perishable food, pet food, personal grooming products and household items can be dropped off at Mr. Alessi’s office on Route 25 in Calverton through April 20. The Long Island Cares Mobile Outreach Resource Enterprise truck will then collect the items.
Long Island Cares Inc. is a Hauppauge-based non profit organization that provides emergency food services for Long Islanders in need.
