Aquebogue-Jamesport

Eileen Benthal

I hope you all had a wonderful week celebrating the season with friends and family. It’s definitely time for spring cleanup, but certainly no reason to water! We had everyone home for Easter and it was a beautiful weekend! We watched in awe as my daughter Johanna received the anointing of the sacrament of Confirmation at the Easter Vigil. My eldest daughter, Anna, stood beside her as her sponsor and Johanna took the name St. Faustina as her inspiration. It was a beautiful evening. As my son and daughter travel back to college, we are all reminded that it’s only about four weeks until they will be back for summer! More food, laundry and fun!

Congratulations to Garret and Barbara Moore of Jamesport, who became grandparents twice in one week! Their daughter, Cindey MacLeod, and her husband, Jim (a teacher at Aquebogue School), welcomed a daughter, Braedyn Julieanne, on Feb. 18 at 10:43 p.m. She weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces. Just about a week later, Garret and Barbara’s son, Garrett, and his wife, Amanda, welcomed a son, Grady LaRue, on Feb. 25 at 10:21 p.m. He weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces. Congratulations to the whole family and welcome to the world, Braedyn and Grady! I’m sure that Garret and Barbara are thrilled with their new additions!

Marie Deuel sent me a lovely note. Thanks, Marie! Best wishes for a very happy birthday to Marie’s little granddaughter Lila! Lila will be 2 this Saturday, April 10. Lila, your grandma loves you very much! Happy birthday!

Thanks so much for all the lovely e-mails and phone calls that people have been sending to tell me that you enjoy this column! This is your community news column so feel free to share your thoughts, news and celebrations! Hope to hear from you soon, have a great week.
