Delores Burch

Delores Burch of Riverhead died March 27 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 66.

She was born Jan. 27, 1944, in Union, S.C., to James Burch and Amy Brown. Raised in South Carolina, she graduated from Sims High School in 1962.

She married Leroy Jefferson in Riverhead and worked as a private duty nursing assistant at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson. At a patient’s request, she relocated temporarily to California, where she continued her education and became a licensed practical nurse.

Ms. Burch was a member of East End Church of Christ, in East Hampton. Her hobbies, according to her family, were to “praise the Lord” and make sure the children were taken care of.

Predeceased by her husband, her father and her daughter, Patrice Jefferson, Ms. Burch is survived by her mother, of Union, S.C.; her sons, Kevin and Lloyd Jefferson, both of Riverhead; her siblings, Beatrice Milton and Larry, both of Riverhead, Brenda Brown of Union, Charles Brown of Atlanta, Ga., James, of Riley, N.C., and Albert, of Washington, D.C.; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 2 at Riverhead Church of Christ. Interment followed at Riverhead Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Seay Memorial Chapel in Riverhead
