David B. Cullen Jr.

David B. Cullen Jr. of Calverton died April 4 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. He was 93.

He was born in Brooklyn Aug. 26, 1916, to David and Helen (Lewis) Cullen. After high school, he earned a degree from St. John’s University, and he served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1944.

Predeceased by his wife, Helen, in 2009, he is survived by his children, Kathy Palladino of Northport, Marjorie Melley of Shelter Island and David III; his sister, Norma Thompson of Queens; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors today, Thursday, April 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 9, at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead, Father Thomas Coby officiating. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
