Nancy C. Raynor

Nancy C. Raynor of Aquebogue died at Peconic Bay Medical Center May 9 after a long illness. A lifelong resident of Aquebogue, she was 46.

Born June 1, 1963, to James and Barbara Worthington Raynor, she graduated from Riverhead High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree in physical education from the State University of New York at Cortland. She earned her master’s degree in special education at Dowling College.

She was a special physical education teacher on the East End for the Board of Cooperative Educational Services in Westhampton. She previously taught physical education at the Hampton Day School in Bridgehampton and the one-room schools in Wainscott and Sagaponack.

She loved to scuba dive and ski, and she enjoyed traveling.

Ms. Raynor was predeceased by her father in 1991 and her brother, James Jr., in 2001. She is survived by her mother.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Reginald B. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. Visiting hours were May 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where a funeral service will be held today, Thursday, May 13, at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Aquebogue Cemetery.
