‘Kiss Me, Kate’ auditions set
Auditions for a Youth on Stage production of the classic Cole Porter musical “Kiss Me, Kate” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23 [date change], and Tuesday, May 25, at North Fork Community Theatre in Mattituck. Actors must be between ages 14 and 22 and be prepared to sing 16 measures of a Broadway-style song. There will also be readings from the script and a dance audition.
Performance dates are Thursdays-Sundays, July 22-Aug. 8.

Osprey players seek lodging
If you have an extra room in your home during the months of June and July, consider hosting one of the North Fork Ospreys’ aspiring college baseball players. A few more host families are still needed for the upcoming season. You do not have to provide transportation or meals, just a bed and bath. Youth for Christ celebration
East End Youth for Christ will host a celebration at Atlantis Marine World Aquarium in Riverhead Sunday, May 16, from 6-9 p.m. Activities include raffle to benefit missions abroad, buffet dinner, dramatic life-changing stories. Cost is $25 per person. Call 385-8333 or visit liyfcevents.org.

Theater group offers two workshop opportunities
You don’t have to be an actor to participate in North Fork Community Theatre. Volunteer Information Night, Tuesday, May 18, 7 p.m. at the NFCT building in Mattituck, will highlight the many behind-the-scenes jobs that make every production possible. Workshop on kids and media
Cornell Cooperative Extension will present a workshop discussing research on media use in children and teens and how to reduce the associated risks. Educator Tim Jahn will lead the session on Monday, May 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the cooperative building in Riverhead. The cost is $5 per person. To register call Laurie Wells, 727-7850, ext. 340.

Be part of the Mosaic
The ever-popular downtown Riverhead Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival is set for May 30. The 14th annual fest will include the traditional sidewalk painting, as well as music, storytelling, and more. The East End Arts Council invites professional artists and craftspeople to submit photos of their work for an outdoor art sale and street painters of all experience levels to sign up to transform a piece of Main Street. Applications for both are available for download at www.eastendarts.org or for pickup at EEAC’s office at 133 E. Main St., Riverhead.
EEAC also needs volunteers to work one-hour shifts between noon and 5 p.m. assisting with face painting and other festival activities. To volunteer, call coordinator Jean Caiola at 727-0900, ext. 307, or stop by the council.

Try out for ‘Julius Caesar’
Open auditions for Northeast Stage’s summer 2010 production of  William Shakespeare’s  “Julius Caesar” will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 14, at Holy Trinity Church, 768 Main St., Greenport.
