Teeny nominees named

The East End Arts Council has announced the nominees for the eighth annual Teeny Awards, with a host of students from the North Fork making the list.

The Teeny Awards, a high school version of Broadway’s Tony Awards, recognize excellence in school theater. Students are evaluated on skills in movement, delivery and stage presence.

A Tony Award-style red carpet ceremony to announce the winners will take place Sunday, June 6, at Riverhead High School. For the first time, the event will be open to the public. Tickets may be purchased at the East End Arts Council in Riverhead or online at www.eastendarts.org.

Nominees from the Riverhead area are as follows:

Supporting actor in a comedy: Ryan Beodeker, Riverhead, “A Night of Comedy”; Stephen Peppaceno, “A Night of Comedy”; James Yaiullo, “A Night of Comedy.”

Supporting actress in a comedy: Shauna Huizing, Riverhead, “A Night of Comedy”; Alyssa Seal, “A Night of Comedy”; Veronica Spaeth, “A Night of Comedy.”

Lead actor in a drama: Chris Bender, McGann-Mercy, “The Crucible”; Hans Butler, “The Crucible”; Joseph Cataldo, “The Crucible.”

Lead actress in a drama: Hope Andrejack, McGann-Mercy, “The Crucible”; Laura-Lynne Duffy, “The Crucible”; Nicole Simons, “The Crucible.”

Supporting actor in a drama: Jared Angona, McGann-Mercy, “The Crucible”; Nick Motlenski, “The Crucible”; Jamie Tuthill, “The Crucible.”

Supporting actress in a drama: Nicole Chiuchiuolo, McGann-Mercy, “The Crucible”; Jackie Godfrey, “The Crucible”; Rebecca Kober, “The Crucible.”

Lead actor in a musical: Ryan Beodeker, Riverhead, “Fame.”

Lead actress in a musical: Nicole Simons, McGann-Mercy, “Once Upon a Mattress.”

Supporting actor in a musical: Brandon Hollborn, Riverhead, “Fame”; Stephen Peppaceno, “Fame.”

Outstanding performance in a drama: Allegra Mahoney, McGann-Mercy, “The Crucible”; Joseph Pagnotta, “The Crucible.” (The “outstanding performance” categories recognize students who “shine brightly” in roles not eligible for adjudication in the leading or supporting categories.)
