Anna Padgorski Gallo

Anna Padgorski Gallo of Riverhead died June 9 at the Riverhead Care Center. She was 86.

She was born in East Quogue on May 29, 1924, to Anthony and Stella Padgorski and married Fred Gallo on June 6, 1940.

According to her family, she was “a housewife and a mother, a breeder of bull mastiff dogs, an animal lover, a gardener and even a driver in a Powder Puff Derby at Riverhead Raceway in the late 1950s.”

She belonged to the American Kennel Club and the Riverhead Moose Lodge.

Predeceased by her husband and her sisters, Katherine Barnes and Mary Skura, Ms. Gallo is survived by her children, Annabelle Hanyo of Chipley, Fla., Toni Giordano of Mooresville, N.C., Bernadette Johnston of Hampton Bays, Thomas, of Aquebogue, and Fred, of Riverhead; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family received visitors June 12 and 13 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral Mass was celebrated June 14 at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment followed at Riverhead Cemetery.
