A seaplane crashed in the Peconic Bay Thursday afternoon. No serious injuries were reported.
The U.S. Coast Guard said the plane hit a rock while attempting to land just south of Robins Island just off North Sea in Southampton Town about 1:30 p.m. It is not clear where the plane was coming from or where it was supposed to land.
Coast Guard members arrived on the scene about 1:45 p.m. and helped the pilot, who was still inside the plane at the time, to shore. Three other passengers were already safely on the beach.
The plane was in about four feet of water, the Coast Guard said.
