One for the ride

Tickets are going fast for Dayspring Dance and Performing Arts production of “Alice, Classic Twist II” at Living Waters Full Gospel Church in Aquebogue. Shows are Friday and Saturday, June 18 and 19, at 7:30 p.m. Call 722-4969 for tickets and information.

Thanks to Richard Wines, who sent me details of the new exhibit at Hallockville Museum Farm, “Chairs of Hallockville,” that opens on June 18 with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. All ages are welcome. There will be light refreshments. The exhibit, in the museum’s Trubisz Little House, is interactive, and viewers will be challenged to solve a series of mysteries about the history and provenance of each chair on display. There will also be a “chair hunt” in the homestead that should be fun for all.

All of the chairs have interesting stories to tell, but Richard tells me that we may be especially interested to know that the exhibit includes a chair that belonged to Jamesport’s founder, James Tuthill, and may be the only known surviving artifact connected to him.

We had a great day at Hallockville Museum Farm this past Saturday. The weather held up nicely and it was a wonderful day for a yard sale! We cleaned out some of the basement and garage. I am not going to stop until we are organized and free of clutter!

I met many new people and old friends. It was also very nice to put the names and faces together of the many local readers who e-mail me and share their news with the community. I especially love meeting new friends! I met quite a few lovely people who have summer homes and some others who just moved to the area. I want to extend a warm welcome to all of you.
