Emergency workers check out the scene on Nugent Drive, where an
Eastern Fuel truck was flipped on its side.

An oil truck belonging to Eastern Fuel flipped over on Nugent Drive, near the Long Island Expressway at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Riverhead Fire Department and Suffolk County police were on the scene, and traffic was detoured from the the Exit 71 ramp.
The driver of the truck, Rod Kaelin of Aquebogue, told The News-Review that he was heading east on Nugent Drive, also known as County Road 94, when a Ford utility truck that was coming off the Long Island Expressway Exit 71 exit ramp apparently ran the stop sign and hit his truck, causing it to flip over on its side. He was not injured but said he was shaken by the experience.
The other driver, whose identity was unknown at the time of publication, was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center after complaining of chest pains..
Riverhead Fire Department volunteers put down “speed dry” absorbent to sop up the oil that spilled.
This is the second accident on an LIE off ramp in two days. On Monday, a driver was killed on the LIE ramp at Exit 73 when his car overturned. Police have yet to identify that man.
