Orange Hallock Tuthill II

Orange Hallock Tuthill II of Riverhead died July 24 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 82.

He was born July 11, 1928, to Orange and Sara (Lambert) Tuthill in Northville, where he was raised. He attended Riverhead High School and served as a diesel mechanic in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954.

In 1956, he married Charlotte Warner. Mr. Tuthill worked as a stationary engineer, first with Photocircuits in Aquebogue for four years and then at Plum Island Animal Disease Center for 30 years.

A member of Mattituck Presbyterian Church, he enjoyed doing machinist work, according to his family.

Predeceased by his wife and son Orange III, he is survived by his son Todd and daughters, Holly Christopher and Suzanne Collins; siblings, John Luce and Virginia Kirk; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Family received visitors July 27 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. Funeral services were held July 28 at Mattituck Presbyterian Church by the Rev. George Gaffga. Interment followed at Sound Avenue Cemetery in Riverhead.
