Civic activist Kerry Moran seriously injured after being struck by car

A Northville man and civic activist was listed in critical but stable condition at an area hospital Monday, two days after he was struck by a car near his home, authorities said.
Kerry Moran, 67, was crossing Sound Shore Road about 1:30 p.m. Saturday to fetch his mail when he was hit by a car driven by Walter Breitenbach of Aquebogue, friends and police said. He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Mr. Moran is a former president and active member of the Northville Beach Civic Association. He has for years lobbied local governments to address flooding and other issues in his beachfront community.
