Emma J. Tyre

Emma J. Tyre of Riverhead died there June 22 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 77.

She was born to Leroy and Sara (Woods) Dixon on May 31, 1933, in Aurora, N.C., where she was raised and graduated from S. W. Snowden High School. She moved to Riverhead in 1954.

Ms. Tyre worked at Milak Dress Factory for many years and then as an assembler at Trutech Inc. for 16 years.

According to her family, her favorite pastime was playing bingo.

She is survived by her husband, Glenon Tyre; children, Louise Moultrie of Hollywood, S.C., John Dixon of Aurora, N.C., Dorothy Lewis and Leonard, both of Riverhead, Earl, of Staten Island and James, of Coram; 22 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Family received visitors June 28 at Galilee Church of God in Christ, Riverhead, where funeral services were held June 29 by Dr. Byron Preston. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Seay Memorial Chapel in Riverhead.
