Police checkpoints lead to three DWI arrests in Riverhead

A pair of overnight checkpoints led to three DWI arrests in Riverhead Friday night and Saturday morning, town police said.
Lurwin Casco-Carranza, 29, of Freeport; Carl Trent, 47, of Wading River; and Mario Santos-Pamirez, 30, of Bridgehampton were all charged with driving while intoxicated after approaching the checkpoints, police said.
Other drivers were issued summonses for operating without a license, expired inspections and equipment violations, according to police.
The checkpoints were conducted on Roanoke and Peconic avenues until 4:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.
