I hope everyone had a great holiday. It was a bit too warm, but, hey, that’s what makes the veggies grow. Guess what? Local peaches have arrived. They are so sweet and juicy you’ll need a bib to eat them. Tomatoes will be the next to arrive, then life will be complete as far as I’m concerned. Yummy!

I saw the most awesome fireworks show with my daughter Jamie in Albany on July 4. As we stood on a mountaintop (I’m not kidding) we saw the city of Albany put on a great show that lasted well over a half-hour. It was perfect, with the sunset in the background and fireworks all along the Hudson River! If you ever get the chance, go up there for a visit. They really know how to put on a spectacular show.

Congratulations to my co-worker Carol’s son Jimmy Niewadomski, who made the dean’s list at St. Joseph’s College. Great job, Jimmy. We are all very proud of you!

Don’t forget Martha Clara Vineyards will be hosting a fundraiser for the Northshore Horse Rescue on July 16. This new rescue is located at Gold Rush Farms in Baiting Hollow. Your help is needed to raise funds to save these poor animals. For great food, wine, music and a chinese auction, head to Martha Clara and feel good about helping a wonderful cause.

Belated happy birthday to Jan Niewadomski (Jimmy’s dad), who celebrated his birthday on June 27. Your family and friends hope you had a very nice day. Cayleigh Rae Orlowski will turn 1 on July 20. This little girl is unique and lets everyone know it. From your mom and dad, Kerin and Steve Orlowski, your big brother, Cormac, and all your family and friends, we hope you have a perfect first birthday.

Believe it or not, watermelon eaten just before bedtime will help you sleep better. Whatever is in there really does the trick and you will supposedly fall asleep twice as fast. Try it. It tastes good and might save you money on sleeping pills. Also, if you suffer from allergies eat local honey. You need to eat the honey from the area in which you live. It truly works! One teaspoonful a day will do the trick. For a delicious treat dip some cold apple slices in it.

That is all for this week. Have fun, be safe and I shall talk to you next week. Take care, bye.
