Aquebogue-Jamesport

The Jamesport carnival started on July 6 and concludes with fireworks on Saturday, July 10! Don’t miss this fun opportunity to come out and celebrate as a community and support our local fire department as well!

Old Steeple Community Church, Aquebogue, will be hosting their annual chicken BBQ on July 10, 4:30-7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12 and are available by calling 727-7224.

A Joyful Noise: A Celebration of Gospel Music Featuring the North Fork’s Own¬  Jus B’Cuz will perform at the Jamesport Meeting House on July 11, 2 p.m.¬  The $15¬ admission will benefit the¬ Meeting House¬ and¬ Holy Ghost Gospel.

There will be a summer celebration of joint Sunday services with First Parish Church and Old Steeple Church. On July 18 services will be hosted by Old Steeple Church at 10 a.m, and on July 25 and Aug. 15 services will be hosted at First Parish Church at 10:30 a.m.¬ 

First Parish Church will host a labyrinth workshop for beginners on Saturday, July 17, 10 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Learn the history of the labyrinth, different designs, use of the labyrinth, journal writing and group sharing.¬ A light and healthy lunch will be served.¬ Call 631-630-0636 to reserve a space.¬ Donation: $35 per person.

The community yard sale to raise money for Maureen’s Haven was a huge success last Saturday! Over $7,000 was raised for this great cause and I got to clean out some of my basement! I am many steps closer to living clutter-free!

I vowed to add more exercise to my life this year as well! I love to walk and ride my bike but I need more of a workout. So I decided to join “Buff on the Vine” at Sparkling Pointe on Wednesdays and Saturdays for the summer. When I went to the first class, I was delighted to find out that the personal trainer is Jamesport native and Riverhead High School Class of 1984 graduate Sue Fleming! She now lives in Brooklyn and teaches in the Bronx, but this summer she’s back on the North Fork to whip us into shape as we exercise in the vines at Sparkling Pointe!

Best wishes for a very happy wedding anniversary to Cindy and Wayne Slivonik. They have been married for 35 years on July 6! Those years are a testimony to you and the world that love endures and flourishes! Also, happy birthday to Cindy, today, July 8, from Wayne! Congratulations to the two of you and have a wonderful week of celebration!
