Shirley Georgeson

Shirley Georgeson of Baiting Hollow died Aug. 15 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. She was 74.

She was born Oct. 3, 1935, to Warren and Ada Bechtel in Riverhead, where she was raised and graduated from Riverhead High School.

In 1987, she married Dr. Lloyd Georgeson in Riverhead. She worked as an operator for New York Telephone Company for over 25 years in Riverhead.

According to her family, she enjoyed collecting teacups and Beanie Babies.

Predeceased by her husband and a son, Mark Welles, she is survived by her son Douglas Welles of Port Jefferson Station; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family received visitors Aug. 18 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Graveside funeral services will be held at noon today, Thursday, Aug. 19, at Calverton National Cemetery.
