Jamesport man killed in Southold crash

A 24-year-old Jamesport man was killed Saturday after he lost control
of his car and swerved into oncoming traffic, Southold Town Police
said.

The crash was one of three in Southold Town that sent a total of seven people to the hospital Saturday.

Police
said Austin Comando was headed east on Main Road in Southold shortly
before 6 p.m. when his 1993 Toyota Camry swerved into the westbound lane
and struck a vehicle being driven by Francisco Franco, 51, of
Greenport. Mr. Comando was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr. Franco was transported to Stony Brook Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
