Entrepreneur Carol Hayes is moving a business into the
10,000-square-foot former Ben Franklin Crafts building on East
Main Street.

A second-hand consignment store may soon be opening at a long-shuttered building in Riverhead’s struggling downtown.
The new store, called the Red Collection, should be up and running at the former Ben Franklin Crafts building on East Main Street within a few weeks, said owner Carol Hayes.
The store will accept antiques and quality used furniture, lamps, mirrors and other household items for sale. The asking price of the item will be determined by the Red Collection’s staff and when sold, the item’s owner will receive 60 percent of the selling price.
The store’s concept is based on a consignment shop run by Ms. Hayes’ aunt in Greensboro, N.C., also called the Red Collection.
Ms. Hayes said she plans to open the store within the next month.
