Delores Burger

Former Greenport and Riverhead resident Delores Burger died Aug. 28 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C., after a long illness. She was 87.

She was born May 9, 1923, in Manilla, Iowa, to Benton and Gladys Dougal.

Ms. Burger worked in inventory control for the U.S. Department of Agriculture at Plum Island Animal Disease Center, retiring after 30 years.

According to her family, in her leisure time she enjoyed the company of friends and loved playing bingo.

Predeceased by her husband, Charles, she is survived by her sons Domineck Parcelluzzi of Wade, N.C., John Hickey of Magnolia, Del., and Thomas Hickey of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Cremation was private.
