Hannah Kate Cooper

Hannah Kate Cooper of Flanders died Sept. 18. She was 100.

She was born Oct. 21, 1909, in Corapeake, N.C., to Isaac and Kate (Goodman) Hayer. She was raised in North Carolina, where she married Henry Cooper.

After moving to Flanders, Ms. Cooper worked in the RDA Duck Cooperative plant in Eastport for 15 years.

She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Riverhead, and according to her family, she enjoyed crossword puzzles.

Predeceased by her husband in 1960, she is survived by her daughter, Laura Street of Riverhead; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Family received visitors Sept. 22 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 23. Interment will follow at Riverhead Cemetery.
