Ethel Maxine Banks

Ethel Maxine Banks of Riverhead died Sept. 4 at the age of 87.

She was born May 26, 1923, in Elizabeth City, N.C., to Julia Roach and Garfield Griffin. She was raised and schooled in Pasquotank County, N.C., and later worked as a homemaker.

Predeceased by her husbands, Alexander McCoy and William Banks, and her children Erman and Griffin McCoy and Margie Williams, Ms. Banks is survived by her children Alexander McCoy Jr., Samuel McCoy, Ella Poyner and Rita Banks; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family received visitors prior to homegoing services Sept. 9 at Galilee Church of God in Christ in Riverhead. The Rev. Roy Pennon officiated. Interment followed at Riverhead Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Seay Memorial Chapel of Riverhead.
