Barbara Kaffke

Barbara Kaffke of Jamesport died Sept. 11 at Oak Hollow Nursing Home. She was 72 years old.

She was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Long Beach to John and Alice (Holobiack) Betic Sr.

Formerly of Rockville Centre, Ms. Kaffke had lived on the North Fork for the past 51 years. She was a communicant of Mattituck Presbyterian Church and an active member of its choir.

According to her family, she was a devoted homemaker whose family was her life.

Predeceased by her husband, Fred Kaffke Sr., in 1982 and a son, Fred Jr., in 2009, she is survived by her children, Nancy Blank of South Jamesport, Ruth Buckley of Baiting Hollow and Susan, of Huntersville, N.C.; a brother, John Betic Jr. of San Rafael, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.

The family received visitors Sept. 14 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 15 at Mattituck Presbyterian Church by the Rev. George Gaffga. The Rite of Committal was private.
