Two escape burning home in Wading River

Two people escaped from a Wading River home that was destroyed by fire Wednesday night.
The call came in about 8:30 p.m. after the home on Shady Lane in Wading River became completely engulfed in flames, according to Riverhead Town Police.
The Wading River Fire Department was assisted by the Riverhead and Rocky Point fire departments in battling the blaze which destroyed the home and also damaged two vehicles, police said.
The two occupants of the home, Heinz Zurek, 56, and Louise Zurek, 54, were evacuated. Ms. Zurek was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation, according to police.
The town fire marshals’ office is investigating the cause of fire.
