Robert J. Spanburgh

Robert J. “Bobby” Spanburgh of Riverhead died Aug. 25 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 71.

He was born in Queens on July 22, 1939, to William and Eleanor Spanburgh.

According to his family, he “was deeply admired by anyone he ever became friends with. He loved golfing in his day, and if there was a card game anywhere in Riverhead, you would most likely find him at the tables.”

Mr. Spanburgh is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his sons, Stephen and Scott; his sisters, Eleanor Niksa and Annmarie Zilnicki; and three grandchildren.

The family received visitors Aug. 27 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Private cremation followed. A family memorial will be held at a later date.

  • It’s great to know that a lot of dance studios are now opening up to cater to people of all ages who are increasingly interested in dancing as well. This definitely goes to show how music and dance can bring people of different ages and races together. All for the love of dancing.
    I personally think that those who are interested to start a dance studio business should have the same passion that these dance instructors have and you have got to put a lot of yourself into it. Thanks for the share!
