George H. Lambert

George H. Lambert of Wading River died Oct. 20 at his home. He was 88.
He was born on Oct. 24, 1921, to Albert and Rose Lambert in Queens, where he was raised and graduated from high school.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in Hudson Bay, Canada, in England and on the front lines in France.
He married Mary Schuy in Garden City on Feb. 28, 1947.
Mr. Lambert worked for the New York State Department of Labor for 45 years, most recently as district manger for the East End.
According to his family, he enjoyed woodcrafting, fishing, golf and playing poker and “was an all-around social butterfly.”
Predeceased by his wife in 2006, Mr. Lambert is survived by his daughters, Deborah Davis of Wading River, Melissa Kessler of Garden Grove, Calif., and Barbara, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
Family received visitors Oct. 24 at O.B. Davis Funeral Home in Miller Place, where funeral services were held Oct. 25. Interment with military honors followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
