Funeral arrangements set for woman hit by truck in Wading River

A wake for 20-year-old Michelle Defranco of Shoreham, who was fatally struck by a truck in Wading River Saturday night, will be held at O.B. Davis Funeral Home in Miller Place Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark R.C. Church in Shoreham. Private cremation will follow.

Riverhead Police said Ms. Defranco stepped into westbound traffic on North Wading River Road, near Dogwood Lane, about 9:45 p.m. when she was hit by a 1990 Toyota pickup truck driven by Jacob McComb, 22, of Wading River. She was treated at the scene by Wading River firefighters and taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where she died.
