Eugene Stagg

Former Jamesport resident Eugene Stagg died Aug. 10 at his home in Lutz, Fla. after a short illness. He was 66.
He was born in Riverhead June 13, 1944, to Carl and Emily (Grabas) Stagg.
Known as Gene, he owned Stagg Burner Service in Jamesport for many years. According to his family, he was well known throughout the East End community.
Mr. Stagg is survived by his wife, Gail; his daughters, Shelly Wilson of Melbourne, Australia, and Kimberly, of Largo, Fla.; his siblings Ted, of Virginia, and Bill, Jim and Sandra, all of Riverhead; and one grandson.
A memorial service was held Aug. 14 at River of Life Church in Lutz, Fla.

  • Triple shame on IGA! The nerve they have to even suggest this is mind boggling. After firing most of those who live here on Shelter Island and making life so miserable that the rest of us quit, and then accusing others of stealing and telling 14 year old’s that “you are lucky you’re not living in India, because your hands should be cut off for stealing” the fact that ANYONE even shops there is disgusting. And now you want to build a dormitory for foreign employees – REALLY??? I have not stepped foot into IGA since May of 2009 and will never again as long as Gino and Diane are the owners.
