Blotter: Flanders man assaulted leaving downtown bar

• A Flanders man said he was assaulted by three men while leaving Digger O’Dells bar and restaurant Thursday morning. The victim told town police the men attacked him in the north parking lot off West Main Street and fled in a silver car about 2 a.m. The man went to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for treatment of a bruised left eye and swelling in the right side of his face. The victim told police he did not know the assailants. No charges have been filed.

• Vincent O’Dowd, 34, of Riverhead was arrested Saturday afternoon after he allegedly stood near the intersection of Ostrander Avenue and Route 58, blocking traffic while drunk, town police said. Mr. O’Dowd was arrested for disorderly conduct about 6 p.m. He was also charged for squatting in a vacant Riverside home in April an again for assaulting a female relative in June, officials said.

• An 18-year-old Flanders man was arrested early Saturday for spraying graffiti on the J&H Transfer building on Route 58 in Riverhead. Police said Montaigne Henderson was observed tagging the building shortly after midnight, after they received a call from a witness. Mr. Henderson was charged with criminal mischief, making graffiti and possession of graffiti instruments.

• Someone stole $5,000 from a Benjamin Street home in Wading River last Wednesday, according to town police. The theft was reported about 11 a.m. No arrests were made.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
