Fallen rocks snarl Main Street traffic

Traffic was diverted around a portion of the left eastbound lane of West Main Street in Riverhead about 11 a.m. Tuesday after a construction truck dumped rocks in the road.

Police said the truck was near the intersection with Peconic Avenue and on its way to the construction site of the Hyatt Place Hotel next to Atlantis Marine World on East Main Street when the spill occurred.

They said the responsible parties would soon be back to clear the site.
