Aquebogue-Jamesport: ‘Carols and Cookies’ Friday at Jamesport Meeting House

Don’t forget: “Carols and Cookies,” will be held tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the historic Jamesport Meeting House. Be part of a holiday tradition: The East End Arts Council chorus, conducted by Anne Webb, will perform seasonal selections and lead all in a singalong of popular carols. Lea Kendall will perform on the piano and there will be a guest musical appearance by local vintner Sal Diliberto. This event marks the debut performance on the Meeting House’s beautifully restored 1922 August Forster baby grand piano, a recent donation by Paul Ebbitts. Afterwards, all are welcome to share cookies and cider in the Lecture Room. Suggested donation: $5 for adults. In addition, there will be prints of Fred Bender’s historic Jamesport paintings available for sale. For more information about the prints, call Richard Wines or e-mail [email protected]. Come out and enjoy carols and cookies — and do a little shopping! Children are also welcome, so bring family and friends. If you would like to bring a few cookies to share, call Richard Wines at 722-5170.

First Parish Church will host an “Afternoon of Music During Advent” on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. Performing will be Terence Purtell, concert pianist, conductor and director of music at Our Lady of Grace Church in West Babylon; Valerie Griggs, guitarist and author who has been writing and performing her own music for the last seven years; and Jay Loomis, North Fork native and widely traveled instrumentalist who plays a variety of instruments. Flutes will be on display and gift items by the Basketweavers will be available for purchase. In addition, there will be food to share. A freewill donation is appreciated. For more information, visit spirit-renewal.com or call Pastor Dianne Rodriguez at 608-3827.

Congratulations to Living Waters Church on another successful Christmas show. I wasn’t able to make it this weekend, but my daughters Anna and Johanna were there. I heard the performance was exceptional, as always. Anna and Johanna especially enjoyed the youngest members of the cast, who stole the show. I am certain that it touched many hearts this holiday season.
Sunday, Dec. 19, is my birthday! I want to thank God for all the blessings I have, most especially my husband and my four beautiful children. I am also grateful to all of you; neighbors and friends who make each day a little brighter.

Enjoy this last week before Christmas! The preparations are part of the magic of Christmas!
